The days when Toyota was a beige automaker producing beige cars are long gone, and the brand is proving it once again with the launch of an all-new exclusive color for its TRD Pro lineup.
For the past few years, the automaker has been surprising us with colors bolder than ever. One can think of the legendary Lime Rush or the fiery Inferno Orange. Voodoo Blue is also a classic and widely appreciated color. Quicksand and Musbath are definitely among my personal favorites. However, I can now say that I have a new favorite color—and it’s the one Toyota is introducing today.
Blue Wave
With such a vibrant name, it’s clear that we’re expecting a bold and flamboyant color, and that’s exactly what Toyota is offering with Blue Wave. This new shade will be available as an option on the TRD Pro versions of the 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia for the 2026 model year.
More Than Just a Color
This blue is not just an ordinary hue picked at random. In fact, it’s quite the opposite—there’s an entire story behind this color. Toyota chose Blue Wave to mark the end of warmer tones, hence the idea of something new. This blue \"tells a unique story of artistic vision and relentless pursuit of innovation, while expressing an elemental spirit that evokes images of icy depths and the thrill of new frontiers.\" It sounds poetic, and it shows how much thought goes into choosing a color. This is, in fact, the 11th color specifically created for the TRD Pro lineup.
In my opinion, Blue Wave is likely to be a very popular option this year. The first 2026 models are expected to arrive at dealerships toward the end of the year, which means we’ll need a bit of patience before getting our hands on one dressed in this new color. That said, if you ask me, it’s the kind of thing that’s well worth the wait.
