The 2018 Toyota RAV4 vs. Honda CR-V vs Subaru ForesterMar 31th, 2018
If you’re shopping for a spacious SUV that is both reliable and fun to drive, chances are you’re looking at the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester.
Today, we’ll explain why the Toyota RAV4 is Canada’s Bestselling SUV and why time and again it bests segment rivals like the CR-V and Forester, and why it offers the greatest value for consumers across the country!
Let’s start with safety. The Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) Package, an industry leading suite of safety technologies is standard on all RAV4 models. That means Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, Smart Stop Technology and more all come at no extra charge. Toyota Safety Sense is often cited by consumers and industry professionals alike as one of the best safety package available on the market today. That means unmatched peace of mind when you’re on the road.
The Honda CR-V only offers things like Lane Departure Alert on higher trims and the 2018 Subaru Forester has yet to make the same technological advancements available to their buyers. Combine this with the fact that the RAV4 was named a Top Safety Pick for 2017 and 2018 and there is no doubt the Toyota SUV is a safer choice for your family.
The 2018 J.D. Power and Associates reliability data has once again revealed Toyota to be a superior brand to many of its competitors, including Subaru and Honda. Toyota ranks 9th overall while Honda sits at 12th place and Subaru rests at the bottom of the pack at 26.
In terms of the vehicles themselves, they have yet to be rated. However, in 2017 the RAV4 surpassed both the CR-V and Forester in overall reliability, and it’s predicated to do the same for 2018.
While the Forester and CR-V both offer ample space for your things, they fall just short of matching the cargo capacity available in the RAV4. With the seats up, the Subaru Forester gives buyers around 974 L of cargo space. Conversely, the RAV4 gives buyers 1098 L. That’s the difference between another back pack and a couple of bags of groceries. The CR-V offers roughly the same, however loses around 50 L when you opt for the Touring trim.
The Toyota RAV4 is notorious for offering its owners a wide variety of features, and that’s certainly remained the same leading into 2018. While things like a backup camera, air-condition, heated front bucket seats and a 6.1” Touchscreen all come standard, you can also add as many amenities as you want!
Consider the RAV4 AWD Limited that includes Smart Key with a Push Button Start, a power moon roof and Siri Eyes Free. While the Forester does offer a moon roof, it lacks the same diversity in options and safety tech.
The CR-V doesn’t offer automatic high beams until higher trims and prospective buyers will be dismayed to know things like a moon roof and Rear Cross Traffic Alert aren’t seen until the Touring trim, which you pay for in a loss of cargo space, as mentioned earlier.
