2018 Toyota Tundra

Shopping for a new truck in Calgary, Alberta? Want power, performance, towing and reliability all in one hardworking pick-up? Look no further than the 2018 Toyota Tundra.

In addition to being Toyota’s flagship pick-up for nearly 20 years, the Tundra has solidified itself as one of the safest, strongest trucks on the market.

The Tundra has also earned Kelley Blue Books Best Resale Value award in the full-sized pick-up segment and was named a Best Overall Value by IntelliChoice. Critics and consumers agree; the Toyota Tundra is an exceptional truck, front-to-back.

2018 Toyota Tundra Overview

The 2018 Tundra is offered in five trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum and 1974 Edition. Buyers have a choice between two engine options – a 4.6-liter V8 that puts out 310 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque or a 5.7-liter V8 that gives an additional 70 horsepower and torque, roughly.

The Tundra comes in two body styles: Double Cab Crew and extra-large CrewMax. Depending on what you’re using your Tundra for you can choose between a 5.5, 6.5 or 8.1-foot long bed. Not all configurations are doable, however, depending on what you want.

The Tundra sees a few refreshes for the new year, like revamped exterior styling and Toyota Safety Sense, the brands suite of safety technologies that includes Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Auto High-Beam Control, to name a few.

Standard Tundra features include a 6-speaker, 6.1” Touchscreen Audio with Bluetooth capability and backup camera, 40/20/40 split bench front seats 60/40 fold up rear seats, cruise control, LED daytime running lights and Toyota Safety Sense. Premium models such as the Platinum and 1974 Edition offer leather seats, heated and ventilated driver and front passenger seats, dual zone climate control and a power moonrooof.

The 2018 Tundra Was Built To Tow

Toyota has always designed the Tundra with one objective in mind -- to get the job done and done well. Whether it’s putting in a full-days’ work at the job site or hauling the camper to the lake for the weekend the Tundra was built to think intuitively about towing and give drivers the confidence they need when hauling a heavy load.

The 2018 Tundra SR trim with the 4.6L V8 can tow up to 6,800 pounds when properly equipped. If you opt for the hungrier 5.7L V8, the Tundra SR can to tow up to 10,200 pounds! Toyota has also made essential towing equipment available like a towing hitch receiver, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller and TOW/HAUL Mode switch.

Toyota Tundra VS Ford F150

The Ford F150 is arguably the Toyota Tundras biggest competition on the market today. However, there are some major reasons why consumers are choosing the Tundra over the F150.

It’s true the Ford F150 XL starts at $30,649, approximately $9,000 less than the Tundra SR ($39,790) however; the price of a Ford quickly increases as you begin to add the necessary towing equipment.

In fact, the Ford F150 Limited’s MSRP hits almost $76,000 while the Tundra Crewmax Platinum 5.7 L gives buyers the highest levels of interior comfort, luxury amenities, towing tech and multimedia system for only $60,590!

The F150 might seem like a good deal on the surface but a quick crunch of the numbers shows just how much money you have to spend to get a truck that has what you want included, whereas the Tundra offers buyers everything they need for far less, even at the highest trim.

The Toyota Tundra also far outscores the F150 on a reliability scale. That’s one of the major reasons the Tundra has earned the Best Resale Value award in the full-sized pick-up segment from Kelley Blue Books for two consecutive years.

The Tundra offers buyers a hardworking pick-up, with a powerful V8 and the torque and technology to tow just about anything you need. It’s been a beloved truck across Alberta for years and continues to prove why it’s one of the top choices for buyers looking for a truck to get the job done.
